DSRU joins Life Sciences Institute launch event at University of Portsmouth
A team from DSRU was pleased to participate in the launch of the Institute of Life Sciences and Healthcare (ILSH) at the University of Portsmouth this week.
ILSH will foster outward-looking collaborative research, with real-world impact, focusing on understanding life at the molecular level, developing technologies and approaches to address global challenges, tackling diseases, developing new treatments and improving everyday health and care. The Institute aims to provide real benefits for society by bringing together scientists, health care professionals and local partners including the DSRU.
New DSRU Director, Dr Linda Härmark, spoke at the launch event, providing an overview of the DSRU and ideas for future collaborative research opportunities. Members of the DSRU research team, Dr Alison Evans and Dr Alison Yeomans, were pleased to re-engage with university colleagues with whom they are working on existing collaborative projects. The DSRU has been an Associate Department of the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Portsmouth for many years. The two organisations have worked on a number of joint projects and are always keen to find scope for further collaboration. The launch of ILSH builds on the existing collaborative link between DSRU and the University.
