ISPE 2025: Spotlights on Real-World Evidence
The DSRU team attended the 41st International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) Annual Conference in Washington DC, where researchers, regulators, and industry leaders explored the evolving role of real-world evidence (RWE) in drug safety.

Key themes included the role of RWE in regulatory decision making, integration of randomised clinical trials with real-world data, with particular emphasis on pragmatic clinical trials, the unique challenges of assessing medical device safety, and the transformative role of artificial intelligence in pharmacoepidemiological research, from applications in systematic reviews to case validation.

The conference provided a valuable platform for exchanging new ideas and gaining insight into the future direction of pharmacoepidemiological research. We’re excited to apply the latest thinking from ISPE to enhance our approaches in providing RWE in drug safety.
