Looking forward to the ISPE Annual Meeting in Washington DC!

The DSRU team will be attending the 41st Annual Meeting of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) in Washington on 23rd-26th August.

We will present a snapshot of the wide variety of observational studies that we conduct, both at the DSRU and via a number of collaborations, in two presentations and 8 research posters.

Dr Sandeep Dhanda (Senior Drug Safety Research Physician) and Samantha Lane (Senior Epidemiologist) from the DSRU research team will present studies covering additional risk minimisation measures (aRMMs), signal detection, active surveillance of flu vaccine safety and European collaborative post-authorisation safety studies (PASS) on several Covid-19 vaccines. Sandeep Dhanda will present our evaluation of a signal of congenital abnormality following use of a fertility drug by means of a disproportionality analysis using global spontaneous reports from VigiBase database and a systematic literature review to contextualise the signal.

The DSRU is the UK’s leading unit for pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology and we offer a range of real-world observational studies including drug utilisation studies, CPRD studies, registries and a pharmacoepidemiology and real-world service for small and medium companies. As an active member of the VAC4EU consortium, the DSRU also conduct multi-database network studies across Europe.

The DSRU will also be presenting the new distance learning version of its popular MSc in Pharmacovigilance during the Academic Showcase at the conference’s Welcome Reception. The DSRU is a leading provider of training in pharmacovigilance and pharmacoepidemiology and is delighted to open registration for this distance learning course, to enable students from around the world to join our many successful graduates in obtaining an industry-recognised postgraduate qualification in pharmacovigilance. If you are attending the ISPE conference, do come and say hello! Sandeep and Samantha can be found at the VAC4EU booth (#500) between sessions and would be delighted to discuss the DSRU’s capabilities and the research they’re presenting in Washington. To schedule a meeting with them email us on enquiries@ dsru.org.
