Causality Assessment Tools: Scoping Review Published
The International Working Group (IWG) on New Developments in Pharmacovigilance has conducted a scoping review of Causality Assessment Tools (CATs) developed or updated between 2008 and 2023, the results of which have recently been published in Drug Safety.
The objective was to describe the key components of each CAT and its strengths and weaknesses and to categorise based on therapeutic area, clinical setting or patient population to support selection of the most appropriate tool within a specific context. Additional considerations for the assessment of adverse drug reactions seen with biologics has also been discussed.
