DSRU Education and Research
IntroductionDSRU Education and Research (DSRU E&R) was established to fulfil the educational objectives of the Drug Safety Research Unit. DSRU E&R is one of the leading providers of education and training in pharmacovigilance in Europe, providing high academic standards at low costs. Our portfolio of meetings includes those which are suitable for beginners in the field and those designed for attendees with more experience.
Accredited Training
DSRU E&R are pleased to offer a part-time Certificate, Diploma and Masters in Pharmacovigilance in association with the University of Portsmouth, for those who wish to study for a qualification in the field. DSRU E&R is also pleased to provide the Drug Safety Surveillance module of Pharmaceutical Medicine Specialty Training (PMST) and Higher Medical Training (HMT) for pharmaceutical physicians.
Meetings are aimed at:
- Personnel from the Pharmaceutical Industry (including those working in drug safety, regulatory and medical affairs and clinical research)
- Personnel from Regulatory Authorities
- Academics
- Research Workers
- Practising Clinicians and Healthcare Professionals
- Other Healthcare Professionals with an interest in drug safety

Course Venues
The venues for our meetings are carefully chosen to provide pleasant accommodation and excellent travel accessibility. Meetings are generally held in Southampton which is only one hour 10 minutes from central London by fast train. In addition Southampton airport has regular flights to and from Europe. Taxis may also be organised at very reasonable prices from either London Heathrow or Gatwick by special arrangement. Some of our meetings are regularly held in central London. The venue details for individual meetings are provided on registration.
Speakers
The DSRU’s experienced staff and invited international speakers have a wealth of expertise gained over many years in drug safety, and each programme is carefully developed by experts. The content of the meetings is regularly revised to reflect developments and feedback from delegates. All courses and symposia have traditionally been awarded Continuing Professional Development points by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine.
