Professor Stephen T. Holgate, Professor of Immunopharmacology, University of Southampton

Professor Stephen Holgate is the MRC Professor of Immunopharmacology at the University of Southampton and Honorary Consultant Physician at Southampton University Hospitals Trust. Professor Holgate is one of the most active medical research scientists in the world at the interface between basic sciences and clinical application in the fields of allergy and asthma. He is contributing to research which utilises molecular and immunological mechanisms to improve the understanding and treatment of allergy and asthma.

Professor Holgate has an illustrious public service record. He is a member of Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution and served on the Sub-Committee for Efficacy and Adverse Drug Reactions of the CSM (SEAR), MRC Project Grant Committee and most recently Councils Sub-Committee on Corporate Policy and Evaluation (SCoPE), its Clinical Research Oversight Group (CROG) and is the Chairman of the Councils new Sub-committee on Evaluation (SOE). He has been Chairman of the Department of Health Committee on the Medical Effects of Air Pollution.

Professor Holgate has received numerous awards, medals and honorary positions from Universities and academic institutions around the world.
