Professor Martin Vessey, Emeritus Professor of Public Health Medicine, University of Oxford

Professor Martin Vessey, Emeritus Professor of Public Health at Oxford University is one of the most distinguished pharmacoepidemiologists in the world. He made significant scientific contributions to the safety and epidemiology on contraceptives and women’s health products. His research also includes studying the epidemiology of breast cancer as well as cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancer.

Professor Vessey’s public service includes being a member of the Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM), various committees at the WHO, the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution and Chairman of the Department of Health Breast Screening Advisory Committee. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 1991 and Founder Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 1998.
