Liz graduated from Imperial College with a BSc Hons in Biology and was subsequently awarded a MSc in Molecular Parasitology and Vector Biology by the University of Manchester. She studied for her PhD on the molecular biology of the human parasite, Trypanosoma cruzi, at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Liz then worked as a postdoctoral research scientist for the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, specialising in molecular parasitology and proteomics. While in this post she developed an interest in technology transfer through acting as scientific advisor to business development consultants recruited to seek new innovations for commercialisation and leading a team in a business plan competition. Liz started at the DSRU as Head of Scientific and Educational Development in September 2007. Her role is broadly to lead development of further scientific, educational and business opportunities in collaboration with the senior team at DSRU. This includes identifying and evaluating new types of potential study, working with the Head of Education and Research to develop new training opportunities, as well as working with external collaborators to implement new scientific and educational projects.
